Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith Vol. 2 – Legacy’s End

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.

Either I am suffering from over-hype when it comes to this series or my expectations are too high after hearing all the praise but I am really not enjoying this series at all so far.

This volume covers two shorter stories, the first follows Vader tracking Jocasta Nu who has infiltrated the Jedi Archives to search for a holocron that contains the locations for potential Force Sensitive children across the Galaxy.

They fight, Vader gets the crystal. He kills her, he destroys the crystal.

One aspect of this story was interesting, which was the encounter between the Grand Inquisitor and Jocasta Nu, who had forbidden him, at the time a Jedi Temple Guard, from accessing certain information but their fight is cut short when Vader arrives.

The second story follows Vader following a lead on a Jedi survivor with the Ninth Sister. It turns out to be a trap and Vader is attacked by mercenaries.

After a chase, Vader gets information out of one of the mercenaries and follows their lead to an exclusive club on Coruscant and finds out that the Order came from the highest echelons of the Empire. After he discusses this with Palpatine, the Emperor gathers the high ranking Imperial Officers and as a show of his power Vader kills a handful of them.

In all honesty, these two stories feel very unoriginal and whilst the second feels like it’s starting to build towards something, it is only going to end one way.

The artwork, however is beautiful, especially in Vader’s dream/vision world which looks like nothing we have seen before in the Saga, and is a brilliant representation of the Dark Side.

I’m definitely feeling pretty negative towards this series right now and won’t be rushing to read volume’s three and four in a hurry, which is disappointing seeing as I was really looking forward to reading this series.
