Star Wars Battlefront 2 – Mission 12 – Discoveries

As I have recently gotten back into gaming after getting a new XBox One S I’ve gone and gotten back into Battlefront 2 in a big bad way.

There will be spoilers for the game so be warned if you haven’t played it yet.

The result of this is I will now do some writing about each of the levels as I make my way through the game. This time I will go through Mission 12 – Discoveries.

The Premise – Decades after the Battle of Jakku we return to the story of Iden and Del with Del back on Pillio and under interrogation by Kylo Ren.

Kylo uses his Force abilities to infiltrate Del’s mind to find Lor San Tekka.

You play as Kylo as he travels through Del’s minds trying to find the information he wants. Starting on Scarif and making his way through Del’s memories of Endor, Pillio and Vardos.

Del gives in and tells Ren that Tekka is on Bayora. Ren leaves and orders Hask to finish the job. After a heated exchange Hask kills Del and leaves the ship and speaks to Protectorate Gleb before leaving Pillio.

The Gameplay – Another hero mission with a twist, as the mission is made up of memories it feels almost trippy with the visuals and enemies appearing as if from nowhere, but essentially still a hero mission.

Easter Eggs – Kylo is searching for Lor San Tekka who was played by Max Von Sydow in ‘The Force Awakens’ and the last piece of the map to Skywalker, which Tekka gives to Poe at the beginning of the film.

We see Scarif, hinting at Del’s backstory from the tie-in novel where he had been based on the planet as a Shoretrooper.

A decent mission that further ties the story in to the events of the saga and an enjoyable way to end the main story of the game and leaves enough hints to get players excited for the extra levels that were released around the time of The Last Jedi.
