As I have recently gotten back into gaming after getting a new XBox One S I’ve gone and gotten back into Battlefront 2 in a big bad way.
There will be spoilers for the game so be warned if you haven’t played it yet.
The result of this is I will now do some writing about each of the levels as I make my way through the game. This time I will go through Mission 9 – Cache Grab.
The Premise – Iden sends Shriv and Lando to an abandoned Imperial Weapons Factory to recover the left-over weapons. When they arrive they find it’s not abandoned and it’s fully operational.
Against Shriv’s advice, Lando leads the way into the Factory, wiping out the Imperial presence and setting the Factory to be wiped out by messing with it’s Lava systems, leading to the evacuation of Imperial forces, the destruction of the factory and the weapons inside and a ride in an AT-ST in the only way Lando could do it, in style.
The Gameplay – It’s another hero mission, this time taking control of Lando (voices by Billy Dee Williams) so it’s in 3rd Person perspective. Lando has some great abilities with Smoke Bomb which lets you distract enemies, Disruptor that messes with their weapons and Sharp Shot which lets you blast up to five enemies at once. Then you get to operate an AT-ST which is as awkward and cumbersome as it looks like it would be in real life.
Easter Eggs – Sullust, the planet the Factory is on was featured in the previous Battlefront Game and was the setting for much of Alexander Freed’s tie-in novel ‘Star Wars: Battlefront – Twilight Company’ where the Rebel army liberates the planet, which Shriv mentions he was one of the soldiers in the battle.
A decent mission if you want to run around blasting Stormtroopers left, right and centre but, in the grand scene of the story, if it was an episode of a TV Show, it would be classed as filler. The best part is the banter between Lando and Shriv which is really the only reason to replay the mission.
