Star Wars Battlefront 2 – Mission 1: The Battle of Endor

As I have recently gotten back into gaming after getting a new XBox One S this past week I’ve gone and gotten back into Battlefront 2 in a big bad way.

There will be spoilers for the game so be warned if you haven’t played it yet.

The result of this is I will now do some writing about each of the levels as I make my way through the game. This time I will go through Mission 1 – The Battle of Endor.

The Premise – Above Endor the Executor has crashed into the Death Star. On the planet the mission starts with Inferno Squad in the aftermath of the destruction of the shield generator, picking off the Rebels who are lingering. After confirming that there is no chance of repairing the shields they see the Death Star explode. The team get the order to evacuate the planet and rendezvous with the fleet at Vice-Admiral Sloane’s orders.

Inferno Squad makes their way through the forest and take out Rebel squads, helping their fellow Imperials and heading for Landing Pad 4.

The Landing Pad is overrun by Rebels who have stolen an AT-ST which you have to dispatch using a rocket launcher (sweet). Once on the Pad, more Rebels are in your way. The team leaves via TIE Fighters after clearing the area.

Hask reaches the teams ship, The Corvus first but it’s been damaged so it’s up to you and Del Meeko, after navigating the wreckage from the Death Star’s destruction to protect the ship from an onslaught of X-Wings and Y-Wings as Hask and the crew repair the engines. Once the ship is repaired Iden is called away to Admiral Versio’s Star Destroyer, The Eviscerator to receive new orders for the team.

The Gameplay – Players get to see the fantastic looking environment of the Forest Moon of Endor and it looks great. The main addition to the gameplay is the piloting of the TIE Fighter which is great fun. The controls are easy to get to grips with and once you know what you are doing you can fly through the debris at top speeds, just don’t crash, it’s embarrassing.

Easter Eggs – U-Wings!!! The troop transports from Rogue One make another appearance (after the opening cut-scene from the first Mission). Aside from that there are no real Easter eggs to report, that I have noticed anyway.
