#Collection Corner – Star Wars: Resistance and My Lego Thoughts

Now we have had some time to absorb the fun brilliance of Star Wars: Resistance I did some thinking about merchandise.

We got some images of the 3.75 inch figures based on the series coming from Hasbro next year which gives me some hope for a wave of Lego sets based on the series as well.

I should hope we do, ‘The Clone Wars’ is still having sets released and ‘Rebels’ has a fair amount of sets too so it seems logical that ‘ Resistance’ will have a few sets too.

But what sets will they be?

A few months ago I wrote a post about what sets I would like to see in a second wave of ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Lego sets and I ended up being pretty close to the Mark with my predictions, so I’ll give it a go with ‘Resistance’, but not quite as in depth, I am writing this after seeing the Series Premiere ‘The Recruit’.

The obvious main set we will get will be ‘The Fireball’ with a Kaz mini-fig. It’s looking to be one of the main ships from the series so it’ll be a shoe-in. Hopefully it will be a decent price, it wouldn’t need to be any more than a maximum of £40 given its size. A couple of mini-figs, Kaz of course and possibly Jeager with his Astromech Droid, Bucket. If they wanted to go all out they could include a play set which gives us mini-figs of Tam and Neeku too, which would bump the price up a bit.

A set I would love to see is Kaz’s T 85 X-Wing Fighter. I’m really wanting to pick up the current iteration of the OT X-Wing and I already have Poe’s X-Wing from ‘The Force Awakens’ so a new version of the X-Wing would look nice alongside those two sets.

We couldn’t have a first wave without that nice looking First Order TIE Interceptor and it’s pilot, the mysterious Major Vonreg who gives Kaz and Poe a run for their money in the opening scene from ‘The Recruit’.

Of course the show will be introducing us to new racers and their ships, all of which would look great in Lego, these could be sold individually or as sets, much like ‘Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced and A-Wing’ set from season 2 of ‘Rebels’, we have already seen the ships piloted by Hype Fazon and Torra Doza and there must be a few more we have yet to see.

With all of these new and colourful ships, Lego could be on to something big as opposed to the usual white, grey and black sets we often get from Star Wars.

Granted, 2019 is going to be a huge year for Star Wars merchandise with ‘Resistance’ coming to an end around April, ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Clone Wars Season Seven’ coming to the Disney Direct to Consumer platform at some point in the year and of course ‘Episode IX’ in December I do hope ‘Resistance’ gets its chance to shine in those little plastic bricks.
